How do I come to Australia to work?


There are many options to work in Australia - short-term or long-term. It is attractive because of the work rights and work conditions that employees are entitled to. 
Other than permanent migration, the most common visa that is used for work purposes is the employer sponsored work visa, commonly called the 457. This visa is for people who want to work temporarily in Australia for up to 4 years through sponsorship from an employer. Employers need to be eligible to nominate a person for a specified work and for a specified period of work. Usually, those employers who offer prospective employees this visa would have done their paperwork to be eligible to do so.
The purpose of this visa is to fill the temporary shortage of skilled workers that Australia as a whole or certain specific areas within the country faces. It is not a pathway to migration although there are options for migration available through this pathway.
Both employers and employees have rights and obligations and any adverse information that the Department has will impact the nomination application by the employer and so, the individual's application as an employee.
